Eligibility & requirements by role

1) Pilot Trainee / Marine Engineering Trainee

  • Minimum of OND in Nautical Science or Marine Engineering
  • Seafarers Medical Certificate of Fitness
  • Mandatory maritime certificates
  • WASSCE/WAEC or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ICT is an added advantage
  • Age: 20–27 years

2) Trainee Seaman / Signalman-in-Training

  • Minimum of 5 credits in Sciences, including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings
  • Certificates must have been obtained within the last 8 years
  • Knowledge of ICT is an added advantage
  • Age: 18–25 years

3) Radio Officer II / Assistant Manager Radio

  • B.Sc. or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or Information Technology
  • Relevant standard training certification and watchkeeping qualification
  • GMDSS certification (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System)
  • Assistant Manager Radio: requires 10 years’ cognate experience
  • Age: 23–35 years

4) Marine Officer II

  • OND in Nautical Science
  • OOW (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency
  • Mandatory maritime certificates
  • Seafarers Medical Certificate
  • Age: 22–35 years

5) Senior Marine Officer/Engineer

  • Class 2 Certificate of Competency (Deck)
  • Chief Mate Unlimited or 1st Mate Certificate
  • Mandatory maritime certificates

  • Age: 25–35 years

6) Assistant Manager Harbours
